Throughout the course of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival (SSMF), students and faculty conduct a number of concerts for the benefit of the local communities around the university. During the 2012 season, seven performances were presented in areas including Monteagle, Cowan, Beersheba, and the village of Sewanee. These community events spread awareness of the arts and support the belief that all people are elevated through the experience of making and hearing great music together.
The SSMF invites ideas from the community for more of these special performances in 2013. The SSMF staff will review these submissions during October and November. Events ranging from dinner gatherings to performances in unusual venues will all be considered—the more creative and community-oriented, the more likely to be chosen. Let the SSMF know how it can be involved in your summer activities.
If you have an idea or event that you would like the SSMF to consider, please fill out the online form located on the SSMF website.
Please note that for events free to the community, organizers are asked provide funds for transportation of the students. For private events or gatherings, a donation is requested to benefit the student musicians and faculty.
