Sewanee senior student-athletes Phillip Link (swimming) and Jenny Liles (women’s tennis) have been named the first-ever Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Man and Woman of the Year. The award, presented by Summit Management Group, is the highest honor given by the conference to an SAA athlete.

New Sewanee graduate Jayne Bibb re-enrolled in the 2010 Advent semester after a 36-year “leave of absence.” Bibb was originally scheduled to graduate in 1976; a busy and happy life intervened until she was able to resume classes a few years ago. She graduated cum laude last weekend with honors in English.

Brooks was on campus as the university’s Baccalaureate speaker, and received a standing ovation from students and their families following his Saturday morning address in All Saints’ Chapel.

The Sewanee men's and women’s lacrosse teams and women’s tennis team have all been selected to play in their respective NCAA tournaments, and golfer Emily Javadi received an individual bid. The lacrosse teams begin play on Wednesday; the tennis team will play this weekend; and the golf championship begins May 14.

The award for Institutional Excellence in Communications Technology is ACUTA’s premier recognition of the work being done on college and university campuses.

Commencement and Baccalaureate ceremonies will be held for students from the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Letters, and The School of Theology. If you can't be on the Mountain for the events, you can watch Commencement online at 10 a.m. (Central) Sunday morning.

Neuroscientist Rebecca Burwell of Brown University gave the keynote address, followed by almost 100 student presentations. A team of faculty judges recognized the most outstanding presentations as McCrady Prize winners.
