Jim Wood, five-time Tennessee Fiddle Champion, to perform

Jim Wood, one of the most decorated contest fiddlers in history and a five-time Tennessee Fiddle Champion, will bring his quintet to Sewanee to perform in St. Luke's Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 10. The event is free and open to the public.

Wood is a 28-year veteran of the professional Nashville music scene. The performance, featuring an eclectic mixture of folk and fiddle music, will include Celtic music that showcases the nexus between Irish, Scottish, and Canadian fiddle styles, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the group members.

Jim Wood will perform on the fiddle and cello. Inge Wood, a native of Costa Rica, will play the guitar and provide vocals. Alyssa Sumpter will play the flute and Ben Ayers will perform on the bouzouki, tenor banjo, mandolin, as well as sing vocals. Hillary Bevels, the reigning buck dancing champion, will play fiddle and dance.
