“Breaking the Silence 2014” is a weeklong series of events occurring April 6-11 at the University of the South. Events will include presentations and discussions that address issues faced by LGBTQ people—including bullying, harassment and homophobia—as well as opportunities for education, empowerment and community building.

The week features a screening of the documentary “God Loves Uganda,” which looks at the evangelical influence in Uganda on the persecution of LGBTQ people. A panel discussion will follow the film, which will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Sewanee Union Theatre.

Everyone is welcome to participate in any of the week’s events. The events are sponsored by the Cornerstone Foundation, the Gender and Sexual Diversity House, The School of Theology, Spectrum, and the Women’s Center.
