Assistant Professor of Political Science Melody Crowder-Meyer will give a talk on women in politics at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. The talk is titled "Where are all the women? An examination of where women run for political office, when they win, and why women's representation remains so low in the U.S."

Why does a group that composes a majority of the population hold fewer than a quarter of state and national offices? Why has women’s representation plateaued in recent years? Come to this event to find out! In this talk, Crowder-Meyer will provide several explanations for American women’s continued underrepresentation in political offices from the local to the national level. She’ll highlight findings from several of her research projects examining how political party norms and resources, the political context, and election structure affect where women run for and win political offices.
