Jeremy Filsell is acknowledged as one of only a few virtuoso performers on both piano and organ. He has appeared as a solo pianist in Russia, Scandinavia, the US, and throughout the UK. Gramophone magazine has called his recordings of Marcel Dupré’s complete organ works “one of the greatest achievements in organ recording.” He will perform as part of Sewanee's Performing Arts Series.
Filsell was an organ scholar at Keble College Oxford and as a graduate, he studied piano at the Royal College of Music, later completing a PhD at Birmingham Conservatoire. He has taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at universities, summer schools, and conventions in both the U.K. and U.S., and has performed around the world. He now combines international performing and teaching activities with being artist-in-residence at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
"Jeremy Filsell gives a virtuoso performance, catching the mood and spirit of the music and using the resources of the organ to excellent effect....splendid playing."
