Grant Miller to speak on sustainable community

All are welcome to join Sewanee’s Economics Club for a presentation by Grant Miller on The Village on Sewanee Creek, a community in nearby Tracy City that was established with sustainability as a primary value.

The brainchild of Miller, former international president for Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins, The Village on Sewanee Creek was established in 2006 and is pioneering ways to be self-sufficient and sustainable. The Village includes a community garden, greenhouse, water catchment, wood gasification electric power plant, Terra Preta bio-char, Amish-style Community Work Culture, Center for the Arts, and much more.

In his talk, Miller will not only explain how he is developing The Village, but also—and more importantly—why. Miller will explain how his "intentional community," based on the values of freedom, community and sustainability, is related to solving some of the great problems faced by the world today.
