The Knights, originating in New York and led by conductor Eric Jacobsen, are an orchestra of friends of diverse musical talents working together to bring a range of cultural influences to their audience through the shared joy of musical performance. They expand the orchestral concert experience with programs that highlight their roots in the classical tradition as well as their passion for musical discovery. The concert is part of the university's Performing Arts Series.

The Knights include members of the string quartet Brooklyn Rider, whose concert was a highlight of the 2011 Sewanee Summer Music Festival.

The Knights have recently performed in the Ravinia Festival and Central Park's Naumburg Orchestral Series and also opened Central Park's SummerStage 2011 series, in collaboration with the Silk Road ensemble and Yo-Yo Ma. Their North American tour features works from their New Worlds album. Mozart, the ensemble’s 2010 collaboration with Lara and Scott St. John, won a Juno Award.

Ticketing and other information can be found on the Performing Arts Series page.
