Lehman conducts SSMF outreach in Chattanooga

Close

SSMF director Katherine Lehman visited Chattanooga last week to work with the Honors Orchestra, Senior Orchestra, and Middle School Advanced Orchestra at Girls Preparatory School (GPS). Lehman demonstrated for the students how to hold the instrument in a relaxed manner and release the emotional content of the music, saying “I want you to be as comfortable playing your instrument at age 75 as you are now.”

Lehman played tunes with the students and urged them to “crayon outside the lines.” Her visit was part of the outreach program for the Sewanee Summer Music Program. See the full story on the GPS website.
